This session provides new users a starting point to RE and offers a refresher course in functionality. It focuses on basic definitions, navigation of all RE screens, and offers a good foundation of knowledge to enable users to confidently move forward in the RE application.

Hear an overview of recent and upcoming changes in Medicare and ARRA regulations and discover their impact on the hospital revenue cycle. Included in the discussion are IPPS and OPPS changes, value based purchasing initiatives, major ARRA and HITECH initiatives, Health Reform update, RAC and MIC updates, a brief introduction to 5010, and a sneak preview of ICD10.

AUDIENCE: This is a general education session designed for anyone who wants an understanding of how Medicare and other governmental regulations have shaped and changed the reimbursement process. It provides ideas for using MS4 Case Mix and RE, AR/ADT and MIRA, but does not require any specific level of understanding.

This session focuses on using CM/RE dayend reports, canned reports, third party logs, the standard report writers, and queries to keep your system clean and in sync to monitor contracts and reimbursement, and processes that aid in decision-making.

AUDIENCE: This class is beneficial for beginning and intermediate users who have some understanding of the Case Mix and RE applications. It is expected that the attendee will have a general knowledge of system functionality, file structure, and interoperability.
