SHARE IN MEANINGFUL USE INCENTIVES BY SHARING THE INFO |
| David Tao, D.Sc., Senior Key Expert, Interoperability Champion – Siemens |
| The ARRA HITECH legislation encourages hospitals to achieve “meaningful use” of “certified EHR technology” in order to receive stimulus funding. Interoperability (called “information exchange” in the legislation) is a major portion of ARRA requirements as published by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). These requirements were expected to include exchange of clinical summaries among hospitals, physicians, and patients and incorporation of laboratory results into the EHR, electronic eligibility and claims, submission of data to public health, and reporting of quality measures to CMS. This presentation includes discussion of the ARRA requirements to support the security and privacy of information exchange among stakeholders and explains what ARRA interoperability means to you and what Siemens is doing to help meet the ARRA objectives now and as they evolve. |
